Graduation Gift: A Lucky Cat for Their First Desk

Your graduate is about to trade a dorm desk for a first office, and you want a gift that makes the trip. Cash disappears in a week. A solar lucky cat sits on the new desk and waves at every opportunity that walks by, powered by light alone, with no batteries and no plug. Prices start at $9.90, less than a bouquet that wilts in 3 days.

Pick a Gift That Survives the Move

Graduation gifts face a hard test. They get packed into boxes and moved 2 or 3 times in the first year alone. Fragile decor breaks, and gift cards get spent and forgotten. A lucky cat is small enough to ride in a backpack and tough enough for every move. It works on a dorm shelf, in a first apartment, and on the first real desk that comes after.

Why a Waving Cat Fits a New Graduate

A lucky cat waves to invite good things closer. Shop owners point it at customers, but the same gesture works for a career: new contacts, interviews, lucky breaks. Set it near a window or under a desk lamp and it keeps waving all day long. It becomes a quiet daily reminder that someone is rooting for the graduate, even from 500 miles away. That is a lot of encouragement for something that weighs less than a coffee mug.

Choose the Size for a First Desk

First desks are small and often shared, so footprint matters more than flash.

• 2 inches: fits beside a laptop on any crowded desk, from $9.90. The Solar Lucky Cat Fu Blessing Edition carries a blessing token, a fitting message for day one of a new job.
• 3 inches: reads clearly from across the room and suits a home office setup, $14.90.

When in doubt, go 2 inches. It survives every move and never hogs the desk.

Match the Color to the Next Step

Gold calls in money and suits the graduate heading into a first job. White marks a clean start and fits someone changing fields or moving to a new city. Black keeps bad luck away and works for the friend taking a risky leap, like starting a business at 22. When you cannot decide, pick gold. Nobody ever complained about extra luck with rent. Gold also hides fingerprints best.

Time the Shipping and Write the Note

Transit takes 7-10 business days after dispatch, so order 2 to 3 weeks before the ceremony or the first day at work. Setup takes under a minute. Out of the box, into the light, and the arm starts waving. Add a one line note such as: Wave at every chance that comes your way. Keep it under 15 words, because the cat handles the long speeches from here.
